The Vanderpool family has been serving the excavation and underground utility needs of central and south central Iowa for well over 50 years. Cliff Vanderpool started the original business in 1955. Mike Vanderpool, Cliff’s son, started his career under the watchful eye of his father. As the business grew and expanded, Mike took on more and more responsibilities in his father’s business. In 1971 Mike started his own business which is what we now know as Vanderpool Construction, Inc. Just as Mike learned the ropes from his father, Mike’s son Toby, and son-in-law, Justin have now taken on ownership and the business operations today.

Through the years the business has grown from a small operation based out of Mike’s home, with Mike doing the digging and his wife, Marylee doing the books; to what it is today, a multi-faceted excavation company with over 55 skilled employees and a reputation for doing quality work at a reasonable price. From a single backhoe in 1971 to a seemingly endless line of equipment today, Vanderpool Construction has the tools and knowledge to do the work right the first time. Our long list of repeat customers is a testament to our core belief in doing things right the first time.
